Clavister, a Swedish company specializing in the development of advanced IP-based security and unified threat management (UTM) solutions, has recently signed an agreement concerning the supply of more than 1,000 virtual security gateways for global deployment, to be completed by Q4-2010. Once completed, Clavister believes this will be the world's largest installation of its kind to date.

"We see a significant trend towards cloud computing and virtualized server environments, and this deal proves that we are on the right track to meet the needs of an idea whose time has come", said John Vestberg, CTO at Clavister.

Among the key factors behind the purchase decision is Clavister’s advanced techology and high-level features especially designed for the virtual environment. Clavister hopes to soon be able to name the customer, a well-known Internet Service Provider.

"The deal includes a portal for provisioning and management of geographically dispersed security gateways. The portal will also facilitate the necessary integration with the customer's existing business processes. All taken together, this means significantly reduced operation and maintenance costs", John Vestberg continued.

Moreover the customer will gain competitive advantage by being able boast significant added security features.
