IT Security company Clavister, formerly EnterNet Technologies, launches a new version of their firewall. Clavister Firewall 7.0 is built on a unique technical concept, which makes it compact, fast and more secure than their competitors.

Clavister Firewall is the most cost-efficient network security solution for all types of businesses. Clavister Firewall focuses on performance, security and low total cost of ownership, combined with Clavister's highly efficient firewalling technology, which is independent of any underlying operating system, such as Unix, Linux or Windows for example. Using the unique Autonomous Firewalling Technology (ATF), Clavister has created a small core of approximately 400 kilobytes, making Clavister Firewall extremely compact, portable and stable.

The compact program code and independence from any underlying operating system makes Clavister Firewall very fast, as it supports transfer rates in excess of 1700 Mbit/s throughput on a regular server with full security. This performance increases on every new generation Intel-based computer. Another feature is Clavister Firewall's compactness, which allows the firewall to be integrated into handheld terminals (PDA), mobile phones etc.

The new features in Clavister Firewall 7.0, compared with previous editions, are overall improved performance, support for statistics polling using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and functions that allow the firewall to integrate a redundant firewall barrier to greatly reduce the risk of disruption. Version 7.0 also includes a powerful traffic shaper with dynamic load balancing, which allows for advanced bandwidth limitation and service guarantees.

Technical details
Clavister Firewall utilises stateful inspection, the leading standard for advanced firewall solutions. This technique enables the firewall to work fast and effectively. Stateful inspection also allows the firewall to be transparent to the internal network. Clavister Firewall controls all regular IP-protocols, including TCP, UDP and ICMP.

Every packet passing through Clavister Firewall is subjected to a series of structural tests according to the header size, flags, fragmentation etc. These tests provide protection from different types of attacks, including "Denial of Service" attacks. In addition, Clavister Firewall also protects against "firewalking", a technique used to reveal private addresses behind an address translating firewall. Clavister Firewall supports functionality for VPN, (Virtual Private Network). VPN functionality allows for secure connections over the Internet between local networks and mobile clients. Clavister VPN is fully compliant with the IPsec standard, and supports mandatory as well as stronger encryption algorithms.
