Four Swedish Municipalities; Aneby, Dorotea, Ljusdal and Vaggeryd, have chosen firewall solutions from the Swedish company Clavister. Headquartered in Örnsköldsvik, where Research & Development also houses, Clavister offers firewall- and VPN solutions that are more secure, faster and more cost-effective than solutions offered by other firewall vendors.

"We are very satisfied with our choice of Clavister. We are especially pleased to be able to run the firewall on an optional hardware platform as well as experiencing a high level of availability," says Lars Andersson, IT-manager at the Municipality of Dorotea.

Dorotea Kommun uses the firewall solution for securing all in- and outbound traffic to the municipality, a type of usage that is fairly common within the Municipalities that have chosen Clavister.

The Municipality of Ljusdal is another new customer. They have chosen to install a High Availability cluster. IT-consultants Interlan Gefle AB installed two firewalls from Clavister's new product portfolio that cooperate and cover each for other in case of interference. This solution is one of the first installations of its kind, enabling the firewalls to protect all traffic between the various authorities and municipal departments.

"We wanted a solution that could grow along with our needs. Today we are using the solution to handle all in- and outbound traffic between the municipality and the world outside, but we also intend to separate our municipal administration's security solutions. We are also taking advantage of features such as traffic shaping, in order to limit usage by students of online communities such as Lunastorm during class hours," said Lars-Åke Göransson, IT-manager at Ljusdals Kommun.

This growing success rate with municipalities is a result of Clavister's new market strategy with a strong focus in the Public Sector and the new product portfolio that is particularly well suited for this customer group. As a part of the new market strategy Clavister cooperates in sales- and seminar activities together with the technology partner Netiq/Webtrend.
