Wind selects Clavister's firewall solution

[2003-02-10]

Wind, one of Italy's leading telecommunication operators, has chosen Clavister as their exclusive technology enabler for their broadband Internet connectivity security offer. The service has undergone a market-testing period and has now reached full potential, offering a complete range of solutions for every kind of application, from small office to enterprise level.

Broadband technology, HDSL and ADSL, makes Internet services available to everyone. But opening up a broadband connection to your office also means exposing the network to risks, such as intrusions by hackers. To make the connection safe, the user needs some kind of firewall solution that keeps the villains out while allowing the user a maximum of freedom and ease-of-use.

"Our choice fell upon Clavister for a number of reasons," said Massimiliano Policastrese, Product Manager at Wind. "Firstly, their solution is one of the safest in the market because it is based on a technology without a traditional operating systems which often come with inherited faults. Secondly, configuration and administration of the new Clavister Firewall Appliances secures safety regardless of whether they are managed by us or if we outsource to professional MSSP's. Last but not least, the very professional presale and after sale support Clavister offers in Italy through its local branch was and is an important factor in our choice of supplier."

After careful evaluation, Wind has decided to offer three different firewall solutions from Clavister, the R33, S330 and S340 Firewall Appliances. These range from the high performance entry level for small companies and professionals to medium class versions to High Availability versions which provide the user with extremely high security and performance. All this at a price that allows Wind to make an attractive security offer even for cost sensitive applications.

"We are very pleased that Wind has chosen us as their supplier", said Michael O. Jönsson, vice president at Clavister in Stockholm. "We see it as further confirmation over the strength of our ISP offer, where growth, and sometimes survival, often depends on the completeness, flexibility and price/performance ratio of the proposed solutions."

In September 2002, Clavister Firewall was once again named "Best in Test" by the leading Nordic Networking magazine, the Swedish edition of IDG/Network & Communication. Previously during 2002, other European publications have named Clavister "Best in Test", and "Best New Technology" and more.
