The Italian Service provider VideoBank sponsors the final competition of the National Olympic Games of Computer Science 2005 ( www.olimpiadi-informatica.it ) that are held in Taormina, Sicily, beginning on March 3rd through 5th.

The competition will be hosted at Salvatore Pugliatti Institute and it will lead to the definition of a team (4 lead players plus 2 reserves) representing Italy in the international final competition, which is going to take place in August in Poland.

It is the first time Sicily has hosted the national final competition and local students still competing are anxiously waiting, most of them aiming at emulating performances by Giuseppe Ottaviano, from Ragusa, Team leader in 2003 and the winner of a bronze medal at the final competition in the U.S.A. in the same edition, and by Paolo Giarrusso, from Catania, Team reserve during last edition in Greece.

Sponsored by Unesco and Aica with the cooperation of Miur, contests are based on the ability in computer-aided problem solving and are intended for high school students under 20 years of age from all over the world, grouped in national delegations coming from about 80 Countries.
