Clavister Launches Worlds First Commercial GAN Security Gateway [2005-09-13]Today Clavister announced the new Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series as the latest addition to Clavister's comprehensive product portfolio. The Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series is the first commercial network security product purpose-built for the emerging GAN (Generic Access Network) standard as defined by 3GPP (3:rd Generation Partnership Project).
Clavister cooperates with one of the major telecom systems supplier to establish a leading position as vendor of security products for the fixed-mobile convergence market. As a result, Clavister now introduces the first fully GAN compliant security gateway providing the highest GAN subscriber density on the market.
The new Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series combines Clavister's award-winning and feature-rich secure network operating system with an unparalleled capacity of several hundreds of thousands of subscribers per unit and key GAN features such as IKEv2 and EAP-SIM/EAP-AKA. In addition, the new product provides extensive value-adding features including virtual routing, stateful inspection firewalling, bandwidth management and intrusion prevention capabilities.
"Market analysts forecast a massive growth of GAN users for the coming few years, with up to 40 million predicted subscribers at the end of 2007. Clavister have, as a part of their telecom business strategy, identified GAN as a key market opportunity where the need for security is vital for a successful market acceptance.", says John Vestberg, CTO of Clavister AB.
Built on proven and stable Swedish technology, the Clavister solution is the first to improve the GAN standard by including support for SCIP (Security Gateway Control and Information Protocol) which adds additional security and control mechanisms to GAN/UMA solutions. For instance, SCIP provides means for enhancing subscriber authenticity validation and blacklisting clients. Furthermore, it provides means to handle overload and high load situations were packet loss may cause voice quality degradation.
Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series is an entirely new platform built on ASIC-empowered, redundant blade modules in a space-efficient form factor. Key features of the Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series are extreme performance, scalability through its modular architecture and unparalleled resilience due to the redundant design of all critical components.
The Clavister Security Gateway 5500 Series is available for delivery during Q1 2006.
