Clavister Adds Best-of-Breed Antivirus Functionality [2007-01-22]Clavister, a Swedish company which develops IP-based security solutions, expands its SSP Security Platform with integrated anti-virus filtering functionality. With the new feature, the system prevents the entry of viruses, worms and other network- and application-level malware and help customers to effectively secure their business critical systems.
Clavister Security Services Platform (SSP) is the collective name for Clavister’s family of security gateways,
management systems and related services.
The Clavister Security Gateway is an extended UTM product family with integrated functions such as firewalling,
VPN, intrusion protection, antivirus protection, web content filtering, traffic management, authentication and more.
It requires only minimal maintenance, has central administration and extraordinarily flexible configuration
possibilities. The family is comprised of five models which cover the entire spectrum from protection of smaller
offices all the way up to powerful clustered systems in the multi-gigabit class for network operators.
Clavister CorePlus™, the core of Clavister’s security platform, has been extended with an anti-virus engine that
analyzes traffic and is able to detect malware, such as viruses, worms and spyware and loggers that might be used
for theft of passwords, credit card numbers or other sensitive information.
One of the unique characteristics of Clavister’s integrated anti-virus functionality is the ability to identify
malicious code in virtually any file type and without any limitations on file size or concurrent downloads.
Thanks to this stream-based design, anti-virus inspection can be performed at critical points in the network, such
as the Internet connection in the case of an enterprise network, or in the core network in larger telecom operator
environments. Clavister’s approach to anti-virus scanning is not intended as a replacement for traditional server
or desktop based anti-virus solutions. Instead, it offers a new layer of protection that efficiently protects the
network from the most wide-spread and dangerous malware outbreaks. This means your network will be able to uphold
an operational level even during an aggressive virus attack. Additionally, this approach also provides the advantage
that anti-virus scanning is always enforced, even though the desktops might not updated with the latest anti-virus
version.
Clavister’s anti-virus feature is purchased as an additional service to the Security Gateway. The service provides
timely and automated anti-virus signature updates through the Clavister Service Provisioning Network (CSPN).
Clavister AB is a Swedish privately owned company that develops IT security products. The main

minimal servicing, has central administration and exceptionally flexible configuration possibilities
and thanks to its scalability fits everything from small companies to big telecom operators.
There are also special versions for ISPs, telecom operators and companies that develop managed
security services.
