Clavister, a Swedish company which develops IP-based security solutions, is the chosen supplier of the firewalls now being used in offices and arenas during the Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre 2007.


Clavister Security Gateway SG50, which the installed products are called, protects the network used by the organisation committee at the World Championship secretariat. In addition, it protects a network which supplies the partners´ requirements to Internet access as well as an authorization system which is used in RFID-based turnstiles and hand scanners.

Even the International Ski Federation (FIS) and a number of photographers use the network which is now secured by Clavister. The installation was performed in collaboration with the local systems integrator, IT Åre AB.

Clavister Security Gateway is a UTM-product (Unified Threat Management), a term for solutions which integrate functions such as firewalls, VPN, intrusion protection, anti-virus, content filtering, traffic management, authorization, etc., in a common hardware platform. Clavister´s family of products cover the entire range from security for smaller local offices to powerful, clustered systems of multi-gigabit class for network operators. The products require minimal maintenance; have central administration and perfectly flexible setup possibilities.

IT Åre AB was founded in 2003 by three already active companies, and has since then been market leaders in the popular ski resort.
