Clavister in strategic alliance with Kaspersky Lab [2007-03-15]Clavister, a Swedish company which develops IP-based security solutions and Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, have signed a long-term and strategic co-operation agreement on the integration of Kaspersky Lab´s virus protection into Clavister Security Gateway.
Clavister Security Gateway has increased with an anti-virus module for searching through incoming files with regards to malicious code. The module is based on collaboration with Kaspersky Lab which continuously delivers signature updates for protection against viruses, Trojans, worms and other malicious code.
”Companies and organizations are challenged every day by constantly increasing threats, both in extent and frequency, in a more and more complex and business-critical network environment. It is therefore absolutely necessary to ally oneself with the best within each area, which made Kaspersky Lab a natural choice. Together with our technology in IP-security, this collaboration will lead to the market being offered a very attractive solution”, said Clavister´s President & CEO, Peter Johansson.
”Clavister´s virus protection is based on stream technology, which means that files are matched against Kaspersky® SafeStream solution as they are downloaded. This leads to a decrease in delay since the file does not need to be pre-stored before being searched. This allows for handling of very large files in a memory-effective way and there is no upper limit to the number of simultaneous downloads”, said John Vestberg, CTO at Clavister.
The Clavister Security Gateway is a UTM-product (Unified Threat Management), a term for solutions which integrate functions such as firewalling, VPN, intrusion protection, anti-virus, content filtering, traffic management, authorization, etc., in a common hardware platform. Clavister´s product family covers the entire range, from security for smaller local offices to powerful, clustered, multi-gigabit systems for network operators. The products require minimal maintenance; have central administration and extremely flexible setup possibilities.
“We are pleased to partner with Clavister and to offer for integration Kaspersky SafeStream, an innovative solution for protecting systems against active malware infections. Unlike traditional file based anti-virus solutions, Kaspersky SafeStream makes it possible to protect the networks and data at wire speed at the stream level. Combined with Kaspersky SafeStream, Clavister Security Gateway allows companies of all sizes high speed malware scanning”, commented Vitaly Bezrodnykh, Business Development Director at Kaspersky Lab.
